How do you edit AI Images?
I have made a ton of AI images and many are great — but many are unusable.
The problem is that you often generate an almost perfect photo using AI.
But how can you edit it?
There is often something you want to change about AI-generated images to make them usable.
AI image editing is becoming a necessary part of AI image generators — to solve this issue.

Use Inpainting for AI Image Editing
The technique known as inpainting — is the easiest and best way to edit your AI-generated photos.
Inpainting is an extension of the photos you create.
You only need to define which part of the image you want to change— and then make a prompt to explain the change you want in the AI image.
Here is a video that shows exactly how to do this.
What is Inpainting?
Inpainting is just putting a mask or painting on top of an image.
You can then tell AI what you want to change using a mask and a simple prompt.
Below is an example of exactly how to do this.
This example was created on Cartario and the AI image editor there.
Cartario uses FLUX FILL PRO for inpainting— but there are other options as well.
The same technique works on any Inpainting software.
Example of Inpainting using FLUX FILL PRO
Above is a photo of me. It was generated using a fine-tuned model of myself — created on Cartario.
But you could use a photo created from a camera as well.
The idea of inpainting is — you first need to define the area you want to change and make a mask.
For this example, I wanted myself to look a bit cooler and wanted to make a picture of me wearing sunglasses.
I could have asked the fine-tuned model to generate another photo of me wearing sunglasses.
But I liked this exact photo and just wanted to add sunglasses to this picture — so I used inpainting to do this instead of generating a completely new photo.
Once I defined the area of the photo using a simple pen tool to make the mask — I just needed to tell the AI exactly what I wanted to change in that area using a prompt.
Here is a screenshot of the prompt I used.
Here is my prompt:
make me wearing big dark cool sunglasses
Result of Inpainting
here is final “inpainted” photo of me wearing sunglasses.
As you can see, it is the exact same photo of me except now I’m wearing sunglasses.
Inpainting using FLUX FILL PRO allows for seamless inpainting.
But just with other AI-generated image techniques — sometimes you have to try a few times to get the result you are trying to achieve.
My first inpainting attempt — made me a pair of sunglasses that was much too small.
You can try the same prompt again or adjust it to get the result you want.
Here is my first result of me wearing sunglasses that were much too small.
As you can see, the glasses are quite small. So I just used the same prompt again for the new pair of sunglasses shown above.
Inpainting is great for many AI image editing ideas.
